A public emergency declared by the Iberville Parish School Board will pave the way for the purchase of a new chiller system for schools throughout the parish.
The declaration board members approved at their regular meeting on Sept. 11 came as schools have contended with air conditioning systems during the first month of school.
Gov. John Bel Edwards had declared a state of emergency last month, which expired Sept. 9. Edwards did not renew the declaration.
