Fountain Hills district debates letting voucher recipients play school sports

The Fountain Hills Unified School District is debating whether to let school voucher recipients play on its sports teams.

“It is a new issue,” Superintendent Cain Jagodzinski said during the March 6 governing board meeting. “We’ve got to work through it.”

While one board member said they saw it as an opportunity for the district to bring students who have left the public school system back to its programs, the superintendent had concerns about what a new policy would mean for the district’s finances.
