Why is Covid-19 quarantine shorter for K-12 students?

Quarantine guidance from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services for Covid-19 exposure is much shorter for K-12 students compared to other unvaccinated people in the state.

According to MDHHS, after being exposed to the virus, unvaccinated K-12 students need to quarantine for seven days if they have no symptoms and test negative on day six. However, for anyone else who is unvaccinated the guidance is to quarantine for 14 days, under the same circumstances.

Dr. Bobby Mukkamala says the guidance varies for several reasons and he agrees with it.
