Females and students who identify in another way reported missing out on a range of activities since the pandemic began.
More than half of the students in the Youth Truth survey reported having more time to spend time on things they like.
But females and students who identify in another way said they were connecting with friends less often, eating meals less regularly and getting less sleep.
For example, 26% of male students said they had spent sufficient time with friends since schools closed, compared to only 21% of females and 22% of students who identify in another way.
Overall, only around 30% of all students said they were getting healthy food and enough physical activity since the COVID outbreak.
Meanwhile, just one in five high school seniors’ said their postsecondary plans have changed:
- 62% expect to attend a four-year college
- 10% expect to attend a two-year college
- 3% expect to work full-time
- 2% expect to attend a trade or technical school
- 2% expect to join the military.
- 16% aren’t sure what they’ll do after high school.
