School board member punched in face in argument over Native American mascot name

A man punched a Connecticut school board member in the face after a disagreement about the renaming of a school mascot escalated during a Tuesday night meeting.

In 2020, Glastonbury High School changed its mascot name from the Tomahawks to the Guardians, according to NBC Connecticut, in order to be racially sensitive. But some members of the community signed a petition to have the name switched back to its Native American themed moniker.
