The School Committee has filed a lawsuit against the city, arguing that the municipal side of the government has not met its obligation to provide sufficient education funding during the budget year that ends June 30.
The lawsuit, filed in Superior Court, Providence, on Friday, follows a failed effort to negotiate a solution.
“Both sides tried to make a sincere effort to do that,” said Warwick Schools Superintendent Philip Thornton. “But it just didn’t get done.”
