Mental health is the topic of the moment in education, and rightly so. Since the pandemic lockdowns, students of all ages are struggling to snap back to the previous “normality.” Many are staying away from education with anxiety and other issues, and they are also facing pressure to “catch up” and “get back to normal” as if nothing had ever happened.
As adults, and with our worldly experience, it is often hard to manage our mental health. Young people have not yet had the chance to learn all the skills that can help them navigate—and recover from—exceptional circumstances in their lives; they cannot simply flick the switch when, in fact, for them, everything has changed.
