One teacher at a time, nonprofit groups try to address the lack of teachers in the Mississippi Delta. After years of inaction, the state is finally stepping in to help them with exam preparation programs expanding across the state. They also recently secured a $4.1 million grant to create new pathways for teachers to get licensed.
High school students currently in grades 10 or 11 are invited to apply for the STEM Summer Enrichment Program at Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Science, Engineering, and Technology. The free two-week program will introduce high school students to STEM disciplines and careers through hands-on activities in areas including mathematics, computer science, chemistry, biology, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and physics.
