The School Committee selected Dr. John Marcus as the district’s new superintendent with a 5-0 vote last night.
Marcus currently serves as the assistant superintendent for Sharon Public Schools, and is a former Principal of Stoughton’s Hansen Elementary School. He will take over the office of Superintendent Marguerite Rizzi in August, subject to the negotiation of a successful contract with the School Committee.
“This is one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make,” said School Committee member Anita Hill moments before casting her vote.
