Gov. Phil Murphy announced that 29 school districts are being awarded grants totaling $2 million that will cover 900 seats. He also announced that a nonprofit is launching a privately funded fellowship program for elementary school math teachers to improve their skills. In addition, the New Jersey Department of Education will be shifting $13.6 million in federal funding to low-income districts for a range of programs including STEM.
A Ohio state representative is proposing a bill that would prohibit districts from eliminating busing in the middle of the school year. Districts would also have to keep busing from the previous academic year if they want a levy on the ballot.
