Substitute teachers are increasingly hard for local districts to find, as low pay and a healthy economy dry up the pool of potential applicants in Massachusetts. But as many school systems struggle to cover basic services with their budgets each year, increasing the pay for subs isn’t yet a major priority in some districts.
Dawn Lewis will be the next superintendent for Arlington Public Schools. She is currently serving as superintendent for the Arnold and Callaway public schools. Arlington Public Schools is replacing Lynn Johnson, who announced her resignation after 10 years as superintendent and 31 years with the district.
