Organization helps athletes with college recruiting

With over 7 million high school athletes in the United States, the dream of playing college sports is real and alive. However, getting the attention of college coaches is not always easy and often requires a proactive approach on the part of the student athlete. mySportResume solves this problem.

mySportResume, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by a high school athlete to help fellow athletes across the United States. The recruiting platform includes a dynamic sport resume builder allowing athletes to compile and consolidate information from multiple sources into a single webpage [resume] for easy management and sharing with college coaches. Information such as profile, videos, social media links, website articles, photos, academics, schedules and success highlights can be included. Students can create and link resumes for up to 4 sports per athlete. Linking enables multi-sport athletes to link each sport resume making it easy for coaches to toggle between sports. In addition, athletes can enter and track various performance measurables over time and display growth results and bar charts. The platform also includes a searchable college directory containing detailed information for over 1,000 D1, D2 and D3 colleges making it possible for athletes to create targeted college lists. Additionally, each resume is SEO optimized to appear at the top of search engine results when an athlete’s name and school are searched by college coaches. Having the ability to easily maintain and update an athlete’s information appearing at the top of search engines is an added value of the platform.

“The recruiting process can be very stressful for athletes, and many have no idea about what to do or where to turn. However, one of the easiest and most overlooked things that an athlete can do on their own is proactively reaching out to coaches to share their recruiting information,” said Jake Williams, founder of mySportResume, Inc.

“Today, it’s really not that hard to create short videos that document and showcase your mechanics, speed, strength, velocity or anything else related to your sport on and off the field. And, when you combine videos with other important recruiting information such as academics, growth improvements, articles, etc. you can pull together a powerful recruiting presentation of yourself. Our vision is to ensure that every athlete in the country has access to these types of tools to take a shot at their college dream,” Williams said.

Williams went on to say that their platform was something that could be used by athletes of all ages, because you’re never too young to begin documenting and showcases improvements and success. mySportResume currently supports baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, football, volleyball and lacrosse and is working on corporate and foundation support to fund future growth and expansion.
