How Newtown Public School District uses Anonymous Alerts

Newtown Public School District in Newtown, Connecticut received one one free year of service for the Anonymous Alerts app for middle and high schools. Administrators chose to adopt the app in part because of the ease of use.

Administrators, including Director of Security Mark Pompano, see incoming alerts and which official responds to them.

“We made sure to communicate that the app is not a replacement for 911 since our administrators only answer during normal business hours,” says Pompano.

Because the app is an electronic version of the original paper-and-pencil reporting process, the district didn’t have to provide extensive training.

“We just had to download the app and set up the account,” says Pompano. “We get a lot of bang for our app, and it doesn’t break the bank.”
