The Pearl City District Board of Education announced Wednesday evening that they have voted to hire Dr. Mike Schiffman as the new Superintendent of Pearl City School District.
Dr. Schiffman will begin his new post officially July 1, 2019, as Pearl City School District Superintendent. He currently holds the position of Superintendent of Schools for Freeport School District 145, a position he has held since 2015. He has experience as a teacher and administrator in the Northwestern Illinois area.
The hiring of Dr. Schiffman follows a search by the district that included input from the parents, community, faculty, and staff. The initial step of the process was a community and faculty survey. Utilizing the results of the survey, the Board identified the next Superintendent’s focus areas. The school board reviewed applications, supporting documentation, and conducted extensive interviews, background and reference checks during the hiring process. Board President Bremmer said “Our board was very impressed with the quality of applicants that we interviewed. We feel that Dr. Schiffman’s experience, knowledge, and personality will make him a great choice to lead the Pearl City School District.”
