Mike Lucas to lead Nebraska district

Dr. Mike Lucas, 46, will be the next Superintendent of Westside Schools.

The board selected Lucas, the current leader of York Public Schools, to succeed retiring Superintendent Dr. Blane McCann. Lucas has plenty of experience leading a school district. He has been with York since 2009 and prior to that, he was the Superintendent in Franklin, Nebraska for seven years. In total, 46 people applied for the job.

Dr. Lucas will begin his duties in July.
