State school board leaders are considering making computer science a class for all K12 students, not just as a high school elective. Georgia schools would introduce it in kindergarten, add on to it in third grade, and increase its difficulty from sixth through eighth grade. The goal is to help feed students into high school computer science pathways, and then turn them toward tech careers.
The Indian Creek High School Tech Tribe of 10 students is tasked with solving other students' Chromebook issues. Each member of the tech tribe receives credit for an elective class, and one can earn college credit in computer science. These students also work on coding and other computer curriculum when they are not helping their peers and teachers.
