Education careers places students directly into classrooms for real-world teaching experience

From her earliest days of high school, Samantha Perez said she’s always had a grasp on what she’d want to pursue upon graduating with her diploma; however, questions and concerns about her dream still filled her mind.

“Even before my junior year, I already knew that I wanted to be a teacher … I was just unsure about the grade level,” the 17-year-old said. “I want to be a special needs teacher, but I didn’t know a lot of the background about teaching.”

Looking for a way to answer her questions, Perez, now a senior at Lakeview High School, enrolled in the Montcalm Area Career Center’s Education Careers program during her junior year.
