Amid a nationwide teacher shortage and teacher walkouts and strikes happening more often, more than 500 districts across 25 states have found a new way to retain teachers and boost morale: a four-day school week.
So far, it’s getting rave reviews.
“Having that extra day on the weekend gives me a chance to just replenish myself so I can come back and be the best teacher I can be,” Jennifer Ducey said. She’s a teacher at Corbett High School outside Portland, Oregon, where they have ahad a four-day school week for 20 years.
