Generation Esports, the organization that leads the High School Esports League and the Middle School Esports League, will be the exclusive sponsor for Texas’ largest inter-school organization, the University Interscholsastic League.
The UIL’s schools will have immediate access to Generation Esports’ resources and its tournament platform, which provides year-round competitions and opportunities for students to earn scholarship prizes through major seasonal events. They also will be able to utilize the Gaming Concepts curriculum that centers on providing college-and-career-ready skills and social-emotional learning through the lens of video games and esports.

Aside from regular-season events, the first big initiative that Generation Esports and the UIL are launching is a “special Texas state Super Smash Bros: Ultimate tournament for middle school and high school students this fall.”
Texas schools will be able to select from a number of popular esports titles offered by Generation Esports, including FIFA 20 (HSEL), Hearthstone (HSEL), Just Dance (MSEL), Madden 20 (HSEL), Mario Kart (MSEL), Minecraft (HSEL and MSEL), NBA 2K20 (HSEL and MSEL), Overwatch (HSEL) and Rocket League (HSEL and MSEL). All of them can be remotely accessed for online play from home.
Currently, Generation Esports serves more than 80,000-plus students nationwide and its HSEL is the largest competitive gaming organization for high schools. The agreement significantly increases the number of schools who will compete through both the HSEL and the Middle School Esports League, which was just launched during the spring.
