Carolyn Smith, a central figure in exposing the Columbus school district’s student data-rigging scandal a decade ago, was lauded earlier this year for nearly 15 years of service as the district’s internal auditor.
Board of Education member Carol Beckerle told Smith at the January audit committee meeting – Smith’s final audit meeting – that the district was “indebted” to her for making the office “a more integral and effective organization answering to the board.”
