Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed legislation Wednesday, July 26, aimed at increasing the number of teachers in classrooms throughout Michigan.

Whitmer said in statement the laws will build on her administration’s efforts “to recruit and retain the talented educators that provide Michigan students with a phenomenal education.”

The laws, among other allowances, will permit Michigan to accept out-of-state teaching certifications and counseling licenses if they meet certain criteria.
