Alabama’s schools still have a long way to go to spend all of their federal COVID relief money, according to new figures shared by the Alabama State Department of Education.
Those figures show that of the $3.3 billion in federal relief given to all K-12 schools and the department, just under half, or $1.5 billion has been spent.
The slow pace of spending doesn’t surprise Alabama Board of Education Vice President Wayne Reynolds, though.
