29-year-old woman used fake birth certificate to enroll at N.J. high school, police say

The woman arrested last week after school officials discovered that she had filed false documents to enroll as a student at New Brunswick High School was identified Wednesday a 29-year-old city resident, authorities said.

Hyejeong Shin was charged on Jan. 24 with providing a false government document with the intent to verify one’s identity or age; a third-degree crime, according to a statement from the New Brunswick Police Department.

New Brunswick Public School District Superintendent Aubrey Johnson spoke about the situation Tuesday night during a board of education meeting.
