A 12-year-old Merkel Middle School student was arrested Wednesday after allegedly making a false threat towards the school.
According to a press release, the Merkel Police Department was notified of an emergency situation that prompted a lockdown at Merkel Middle School. Information in the alert revealed that there was possibly an armed individual in a classroom.
After police responded, further investigation revealed that there was no armed subject and that the notification was initiated by a student falsely making a claim through a MISD computer.
