For six decades, the Frazier Community Library has been a meeting place for the residents of the small, rural Perryopolis community. Children eagerly awaited story hour and created holiday crafts. Computers were used to print out important documents and for research.

The normally quiet library has an unusual location. Housed in the Frazier High School, it acts as a school library for about 300 students during the day. But in the evenings and on the weekends, it’s a community staple.

The facility has recently found itself at the center of a dispute after the school board voted May 16 to evict the library over security concerns. The eviction comes as school leaders across the country have deeper discussions about student safety with school shootings and other high-profile events remaining prominent.
