Padilla is the secretary of the New Mexico Public Education Department and previously served as director of the state’s Children’s Cabinet, leading Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s child and family well-being agenda. She launched a statewide literacy initiative and created the New Mexico Early Childhood Education and Care Department while spearheading the Cradle to Career education agenda.
