Looking back at the most recent Future of Education Technology Conference in January.

Three groups representing West Virginia school groups said they are poised to take statewide action on an education reform omnibus bill and expect to take a vote this week. The bill bundles together a 5 percent pay raise and money for public health insurance with other education reforms, including charter schools.

Under the measure, public schools must include lessons about the political, economic and social contributions of individuals who are gay and transgender, starting in the 2020-21 school year. The bill also requires teaching about contributions of people who are disabled. The law does not apply to private schools.

The Denver Classroom Teachers Association rejected the latest offer from the Denver Public School District. The district proposed adding $3 million to the deal during the 2020-21 school year by eliminating 100 positions in the central office. The new proposal would have committed an estimated $50 million in teacher increases over three years.
