Michigan schools’ average SAT test scores decline for third-straight year

For the third straight school year, Michigan students’ average score on the Scholastic Assessment Test scores declined year-over-year, further illustrating the troubling outlook of the state’s education system post-pandemic.

At 959.9, the average score dropped 36.1 points below the previous year, and set the lowest mark in the state since the test was implemented statewide in the 2015-16 school year, according to information released Aug. 31 by MI School Data. The score was also 47.7 points lower than the all-time high average of 1007.6, set in 2016-17.
