With 17 years of leadership experience in the Ann Arbor Public Schools, Jazz Parks will take over the district’s top leadership post after being appointed as interim superintendent.
Parks’ appointment was approved unanimously by the school board Wednesday, Oct. 11, after a brief discussion and universal praise for her growth and experience as an administrator. Her appointment is subject to contract negotiations with an effective date of replacing outgoing Superintendent Jeanice Swift to be determined.
Parks has been a principal, executive director and most recently has served an assistant superintendent since 2020, where she worked in developing and maintaining educational programs and services.
