A range of financial, logistical and regulatory challenges have the potential to disrupt school meal service as pandemic relief funding expires and stricter standards arrive, advocates say.
"It makes my heart so happy that students are coming together to share their experiences and they feel safe doing it," says Superintendent Laurie Dent. "We finally made it safe to talk about race in this district."

Schools across Texas use a wide variety of learning materials, which triggered concerns about quality among lawmakers. They worried that many lessons don’t meet state standards, which means students could be leaving school inadequately prepared for college and the workforce.
New Albany School District Superintendent Lance Evans says they've hired someone to direct workforce development not for their teachers, but for students.
"There were no traditions or routines yet," Principal Ahna Davis says of Cabot Freshman Academy. "We got to create the school that we wanted. Ten years later, it is still a fantastic school!"
