Developed in collaboration with Wilson Language Training, Great Minds released Geodes, a new category of books for new and emerging readers. With Geodes, Great Minds introduces Readables books, which give students opportunities to practice language while building and extending knowledge, vocabulary and more.
For more than two years, a group of parents has fought with the California district over its sexual health curriculum and appropriate ages. An online petition opposing the curriculum has over 6,000 signatures and an in-person petition has collected 4,000 signatures.
Some of the newest partner districts protecting students with Gaggle are West Memphis School District in Arkansas, Perris Union High School District in California and School District of Lee County in Florida. Five other districts in Iowa, South Carolina, Texas, Wisconsin and Washington have signed on as well.
New Washington legislation focuses on suicide prevention, school resource officer training and mental health. Legislators also hope to open regional safety centers to provide training, support and coordination to teachers and students.
The two companion bills would make all Kentucky K12 schools 100 percent tobacco-free beginning July 1, 2020. The ban would include electronic cigarettes. Those concerned about such a policy worry about impeding the personal rights of adult school personal and visitors, and about statewide law overstepping local control.
