Texas Education Agency has appointed Peter Licata, who briefly led Broward County Public Schools, as the superintendent in the state's takeover of the Fort Worth Independent School District.
The state's education commissioner picked Peter Licata for leading Florida's Broward County Public Schools to its first A in 14 years and eliminating D and F campuses.
The audit, spurred by a June 2021 investigation by Business Insider, looked at the relationship between the Val Verde Unified School District and Pegasus California School, more than 6,000 miles away in Qingdao, China.
Peter B. Licata, who served as Broward County Public Schools superintendent for less than a year, is now charged with driving rapid academic gains for Fort Worth ISD’s nearly 68,000 students.
