LRP Media Group, a recognized leader in the special education publishing industry, has released The Paraprofessional’s Guide to Managing Student Behavior — Second Edition Video and Workbook. The 2019 Edition includes new resources and activities that teach paraprofessionals practical strategies to assist teachers in the classroom and reduce student misconduct.

The new Second Edition offers a reproducible workbook filled with engaging activities plus an MP4 video file download. When a paraprofessional needs training, simply share the workbook with them while they watch the video — a combination approach that teaches and reinforces current best practices to:

  • Manage the increasingly common concerns of verbal and physical aggression, work refusal, defiance of authority, and anxiety
  • Interact effectively with students, such as how to approach a student with a request
  • Monitor use of proximity control to address student behavior
  • Work with students who have experienced trauma, including how to identify and avoid emotional triggers

“It is critical that paraprofessionals who play an integral part in the service delivery of our schools be provided high quality training,” said author Beverly H. Johns. “This training package provides the latest information on the emotional and behavioral challenges that our students bring to school and informs paraprofessionals about effective, positive strategies to address those behaviors.”

The Paraprofessional’s Guide to Managing Student Behavior — Second Edition Video and Workbook is available for purchase from LRP Publications’ online store.
