A mother is questioning the Wake County school system’s decision to suspend her daughter after she fled East Wake High School in fear during a lockdown last week.
A report of a weapon on campus that later turned out to be a BB gun triggered a code red lockdown at East Wake High in Wendell on Oct. 24.
Naomi Miller’s daughter ran from the school, with her mother’s blessing. That resulted in a two-day suspension for the daughter.
Miller told the Wake County school board on Tuesday that it was “reckless” to suspend her daughter for leaving the campus when all she was doing was trying to protect herself.
