Springdale Junior-Senior High School students who walked out of class last week to protest what they say is a lack of teachers in the Allegheny Valley School District were disciplined for their actions, officials confirmed.
Around 50 students gathered in front of the building Nov. 23 about an hour before the school day ended to bring attention to their claims about a teacher shortage and how it affects students’ education.
This week, those students found out they were given a two-day after-school detention for their actions.
“I’m upset because we stood up to them to show them that we cared and then they’re paying us back with detention,” said Madison Shock, a high school junior.
