Keller teachers and other school employees could be authorized to carry guns on campuses should trustees approve a new policy Monday night.
Texas school officials are having renewed debate over arming staff members after 19 students and two teachers were killed during a shooting at Robb Elementary in Uvalde.
If approved, “highly qualified” employees in Keller would need to get approval from the superintendent and trustees, hold a license and undergo training. Choosing to carry a gun would be voluntary. District leaders would also have the ability to remove an employee’s authorization to carry at any time.
