Ed tech startups to be showcased in FETC Pitchfest

Up-and-coming companies will demo their K-12 tech products and compete for national recognition at FETC 2020 in Miami

Some of the best new ideas in educational technology will be showcased at FETC’s third annual Pitchfest, where over two dozen startup companies will take turns showing off their products to attendees and a panel of judges in a theater in the expo hall. FETC 2020 will be held Jan. 14-17 in Miami.

In the preliminary round, to be held in the afternoon of Jan. 16, each startup will get four minutes to present and demo their product or service. In the final round, to be held the morning of Jan. 17, four companies will each get three minutes to present their product or service, followed by 7 minutes of judging panel and audience Q&A.

The winning company will receive a complimentary 10’x10′ exhibit booth at FETC 2021, a $10,000 media advertising package in District Administration’s magazine and digital properties; and an opportunity to pitch to senior district administrators in the FETC VIP lounge.

To-date, 28 companies have registered to participate in the FETC Pitchfest, with more expected. Companies can apply for participation here, with a deadline of Dec. 8.

The Pitchfest judging panel will include a senior school district administrator, a K-5 teacher, a 6-12 teacher, a startup investor/business coach and an education media representative.

Companies will be judged on:

  • Creativity (Originality and Uniqueness of Idea)
  • Potential (Longevity, Actualization and Profitability of idea)
  • Goodness (How the product or service impacts/improves education?)
  • Functionality (Usability of interface for idea)
  • Team (Who is your team and how will they make you a success)
