Schaumburg educator hired as Illinois district’s next leader

A Schaumburg educator and Wauconda resident will be the next superintendent in Hawthorn Elementary District 73.

Peter Hannigan, currently assistant superintendent for human resources at Schaumburg Township Elementary District 54, will take the helm at the Vernon Hills-based district beginning July 1.

The District 73 school board on Monday approved a three-year contract with Hannigan. His starting base pay will be $190,000.
