The Providence school district will reimpose the mask mandate among students and staff starting Tuesday.
This policy applies to anyone in schools, on school buses and at indoor school-sponsored events. The mask requirement does not apply to outdoor activities.
New Shoreham and Central Falls have also reimposed school mask mandates.
The average number of daily positive cases among Providence school staff and students has increased from a low of about 10 per day in March and early April to about 40 positive cases per day in early May and 60 positive cases per day last week, the district said in a statement Monday.
