LRP Media Group, a recognized leader in the special education publishing industry, has released a second edition of Academic and Behavioral Interventions That Work for Students With Autism. The 2019 version includes all new content, including two new sections of behavioral interventions on mental health and transportation and nine sample forms and tools. Special education administrators can share these with staff to ensure everyone meets his obligations under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.

Like its predecessor, the 2019 edition features advice from a variety of experts in the field on how to address the academic and behavioral needs of students with autism. You’ll learn strategies to fade out prompting to ensure a student receives FAPE, use mobile devices to help students navigate new skills, tackle the needs of violent students before their behaviors escalate, address students’ sexual behaviors in school, and prevent wandering. The new edition also features nine appendices that include charts and checklists to help special education administrators and their staff quickly and easily determine students’ needs for supports and prepare for different situations, such as lockdown drills.

The 2019 new edition also tells administrators how to:

  • Meet the needs of students with autism after an emergency.
  • Replace self-injurious behaviors with coping strategies.
  • Help students with autism avoid the “bully-victim” cycle.
  • Individualize extended school year services for students with autism.
  • Prevent the use of tablets to reinforce disruptive behavior.

Academic and Behavioral Interventions That Work for Students With Autism — Second Edition is available for purchase from LRP Publications’ online store.
