Houston Independent School District Superintendent Mike Miles doubled down on a new administrative policy requiring teachers to leave their doors open during class time throughout the day. The open-door policy is one of many changes in the district implemented by Miles and the state-HISD board of managers after being appointed by the Texas Education Agency in June.
“We’re going to keep the doors open when we teach,” Miles said in a press conference Monday outlining the latest district updates as students start the first week of school.
