Families file lawsuit over Pa. district’s armed staff policy

Parents have joined the legal fight to stop the Tamaqua Area School District’s controversial policy to arm staff.

Holly Koscak, Darrel Flack Jr., Angela Flack and Sara Thierer filed a lawsuit this week in Schuylkill County Court against the district. It’s the second suit spawned by Policy 705, which was unanimously and quietly passed in September. The Tamaqua Area Education Association filed a lawsuit in November challenging the policy.

Tamaqua is the first district in the state to arm teachers and other staff as a way to prevent school shootings.
