White House outlines 5-year STEM push

The plan calls for every American to master basic STEM concepts, and aims to increase access to STEM among underserved students and to encourage students to pursue STEM careers. Other points include strengthening community-school partnerships and urging educators to focus on project-based learning, science fairs, robotics clubs, invention challenges and gaming workshops. Much of what the administration is calling for has already been underway for some time. One acknowledged challenge to the plan is the lack of K12 STEM teachers.
