Washington school construction will continue
Walla Walla Public Schools’ construction projects have been given the green light to continue. On Monday, Gov. Jay Inslee issued an order requiring Washingtonians stay home unless they need to pursue an essential activity to help curb the spread of COVID-19.
On Tuesday, State Superintendent of Public Instruction Chris Reykdal stated to all superintendents neither the proclamation nor the list of essential functions would preclude districts from continuing your construction projects.
As a result of Reykdal’s interpretation, Jackson Contractor Group of Walla Walla notified the school district that Walla Walla High School improvements will continue. Jackson Construction Group is currently building the new science building at Walla Walla High School as part of the district’s bond program.
