LRP Media Group, a recognized leader in the special education publishing industry, has released an update of Preparing Test-Resistant Students for Assessments: A Staff Training Guide — Second Edition. The 2021 version outlines the practical strategies you need to identify the reasons why a student may not want to participate in tests or assessments and to resolve those challenges. “Are you having trouble motivating your students to take tests and participate in assessments? If so, this guide is filled with practical strategies to assist your students in navigating the test-taking process,” said author Beverley H. Johns.

This resource also informs educators how to support students before, during, and after testing, with best practices on:

  • Using mindfulness strategies and tiered interventions to reduce students’ test-related anxiety.
  • Offering appropriate testing accommodations to students who have experienced trauma.
  • Teaching students quiet exercises to improve focus during and after testing.
  • Determining a student’s testing-related weaknesses and addressing them in the IEP.
