Lawmakers heard testimony on a bill to overhaul the state's current school discipline law. It would limit the length of out-of-school suspensions for theft, destruction, violence or possessing a firearm to 10 consecutive days. If students were suspended for longer, their school would be required to provide them with an assessment and services.
Colorado parents will be able to enroll their children in full-day kindergarten at no cost starting this fall. While most kindergarten students already attend full-day programs, in many districts parents pay tuition or districts pull from other needs to cover the cost.
