SC to get nearly $1 billion for K-12 education in latest round of federal aid
South Carolina will get nearly double the amount of federal funding it receives annually for K-12 education as part of the latest round of federal coronavirus aid.
Congress set aside $54.3 billion to go to states for K-12 funding in its Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund, which is part of the new Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act. South Carolina is set to get $940.4 million.
It’s an “unprecedented level” of funding, said Ryan Brown, a spokesperson for the state Department of Education.
