Rome Board of Education holding special meeting after guns found in school twice during first week

The Rome City Schools Board of Education is meeting Friday afternoon to discuss safety in their schools after guns were found on campus twice during the first week of classes.

Students at the 11 schools in the district went back to school on July 29.

In less than a week, district officials say they have caught students bringing guns onto Rome High School’s campus.

School administrators say the first student brought a gun to school on Wednesday, but they were immediately notified and the student was questioned. The gun was never used to threaten anyone else on campus.
