Tuesday, March 12, 2019 - 9:17 am

The two-day event in May 2019 will feature keynotes from Golriz Lucina, Head of Creative at SoulPancake, and from Principal Baruti Kafele

Transforming education, from leadership development to personalized learning for all students, is the focus of the 5th Annual Personalized Learning Summit 2019. The conference, hosted by Education Elements, will take place May 14-16, 2019 at the Hilton Atlanta in Atlanta. This year’s inspiring and insightful keynote speakers are Head of Creative at SoulPancake and best-selling author Golriz Lucina and master teacher, transformational school leader, and award-winning author Principal Baruti Kafele.

Lucina thinks deeply about human connection and the power of joy at SoulPancake, an entertainment company founded by actor Rainn Wilson that has attracted more than one billion views. In addition to her role as Head of Creative, Lucina is also co-author of the New York Times best-selling book “SoulPancake: Chew on Life’s Big Questions” and co-host and executive producer of the SoulPancake interstitials on the Oprah Winfrey Network’s Super Soul Sunday series.

Kafele is one of the most sought-after school leadership experts in the country. He is an expert in the area of “attitude transformation” and is the leading authority helping school administrators and educators implement effective strategies to help close what he coined the “Attitude Gap.”

“Having attended an Education Elements Personalized Learning Summit myself, I can say it is one of the best annual conferences for K-12 leaders,” said Michael B. Horn, co-founder and distinguished fellow at The Christensen Institute. “Any school or district leader interested in sustaining innovation, personalized learning, or organizational design should definitely plan to attend.”

This year’s conference will include Transformative Thoughts sessions where leaders from across the world share big ideas for building networks and transforming education. Speakers include the 2019 Georgia Teacher of the Year Allison Kerley Townsend and Co-founder and Chief Experience Officer of We and Me, Inc. Chad Littlefield. Townsend is a third-grade teacher at Barnwell Elementary School in Fulton County and according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, “strives to give each child a voice in their learning, and inspires them to grow beyond ‘engagement’ to ‘ownership.’”

Littlefield’s We and Me Inc. helps leaders amplify a culture of connection, belonging, and trust in their organizations. The TEDx speaker and best-selling author has led workshops, trainings, retreats, and interactive keynotes for JetBlue, Starbucks, Johnson & Johnson, and dozens of conferences. Other featured speakers include Julia Freeland Fisher from The Christensen Institute, Larry Corio and Paloma Nikolic from IDEO, Rajkumari Neogy from iRestart, as well as other leaders from The Wiseman Group, which authored “Multipliers: How the Best Leaders Make Everyone Smarter.”

“This event creates a unique opportunity for experts and district leaders and educators at every stage of their school improvement journey to collaborate and build a supportive network that will help move the needle on personalized learning initiatives,” said Anthony Kim, Founder and CEO of Education Elements. “We believe in the importance of continuous improvement, and the PL Summit helps encourage this by building the capacity of both leaders and the educators who work with them.”
