(CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS) January 9, 2018Girls Thinking Global (GTG), dedicated to connecting nonprofits that serve adolescent girls and young women around the world, is gifting its assets to the Women’s Education Project (WEP). The two organizations have worked together closely over the past two years. Combining their respective strengths into one organization was the natural outgrowth of that relationship.

In addition to the gifting of assets to WEP, Kathy Hurley (CEO) and Deb deVries (President) of Girls Thinking Global will be donating their expertise and experience to the organization. Hurley will be joining WEP’s Board of Directors, while deVries will serve on the organization’s Advisory Council.

“We’re excited about merging with WEP, which will allow us to work directly with the girls and young women who benefit from our advocacy and support efforts,” said Hurley. “Furthermore, we respect the leadership of WEP’s founder and executive director Zoe Timms, who not only has a passion for the girls and young women of India and South Asia, but also has the NGO relationships and drive to fulfill our shared goals of equipping girls and young women in historically challenging areas of the world with the skills they need for college and career training, as well as leadership roles in their communities.”

Timms commented, “The Women’s Education Project is thrilled to receive the generous assets being gifted by Girls Thinking Global. While their assets will help us continue to grow as an organization, we are equally excited that Ms. Hurley and Ms. deVries will be sharing their years of experience with the organization to help us continue to fulfill our mission.”

The gifting of assets includes:

  • The GTG Visualization Tool, along with the specifications and requirements map to further expand the tool to capture all organizations that serve girls and young women around the world;
  • The GTG Webinar Community of 1,250+ members dedicated to the leadership; development of girls and young women;
  • The Girls Thinking Global documentary, The Heart of Everything: Jungle Mamas – Changemakers in the Amazon; and
  • The expertise and experience of the Chief Executive Officer and President.

Girls Thinking Global and the Women’s Education Project are now both members of the Global Girls Alliance, which is organized and operated by the Obama Foundation.
